Former Captain and Club Champion Rory Sloane’s AFL career will extend into a 16^th season with the Crows veteran signing a one-year contract extension.

Sloane has played 254 matches and says his passion for the game, and the Club, has never been stronger.

“I love where this Club is heading, both on and off the field, and I’m excited by the growth we have seen this year,” Sloane said.

“While we obviously train and play in an elite environment, I have often spoken about there being a local footy club feel about the place and it’s what I love.

“There are lots of genuine people looking out for each other and it translates to on-field performance where we have shown that our best is definitely good enough to match it with any team.

“I want to contribute and do all I can to make this Club the best it can be, and I appreciative the support I have and continue to receive.”

Recruited with Pick No. 44 in the 2008 National Draft, Sloane has been a fan favourite and along the way claimed a string of awards, including twice being named Club Champion.

He received All-Australian honours in 2016 and was voted the AFL Players’ Association’s Most Courageous Player the following year.

Adelaide General Manager List Management and Strategy Justin Reid described Sloane’s leadership, both on and off the field, as invaluable.

“Rory is as competitive and determined as any player in the league and he is everything you want in a leader,” Reid said.

“His work ethic and dedication is reflected in the way he has returned from last year’s serious knee injury to play and contribute in all of our games so far this season.

“Importantly, he possesses a genuine care for team mates, as well as the football and administration staff, and he understands what makes a great club and he continues to drive standards.”
