Adelaide forward Taylor Walker says the experience the young squad is getting in close games this season will hold it in good stead moving forward.
The Crows fell agonisingly short of a top-four scalp again at the weekend, falling to Brisbane by six points at the Gabba, a venue the Lions have not lost at in 2023.
While the result was disappointing, Walker said the performance was indicative of Adelaide’s improvement and was confident the close losses would quickly turn into wins.
“As frustrating as it is for us and our fans, the way I look at it is that we are so close, and are taking it up to the best sides,” Walker told Roo, Ditts and Loz on Triple M Adelaide Breakfast.
“We know our best footy stands up against those top four sides, and it won’t be long until we are on the other end of those close games.
“Our guys are so young and still developing, so we will definitely learn from these experiences and be better for it in the long run.”
The Crows now find themselves in 12th spot on the ladder, but just one win away from eighth spot.
With a clash against seventh-placed Sydney at Adelaide Oval this Saturday night, Walker said the squad was well aware an Elimination Final type scenario awaited them.
“This weekend against the Swans is very big, we’ve got to win our last two games to give ourselves a chance of playing finals,” Walker said.
“Sydney are going very well, they are starting to get their mojo back and have been playing some great footy over the past few weeks, so it won’t be easy.
“But I’m confident with the home crowd behind us at Adelaide Oval we have what it takes to get it done.”
