Adelaide Assistant Coach James Rahilly says he is disappointed the Crows were unable to execute in the key moments against Greater Western Sydney on Saturday.
Despite leading by 17 points at the last change, Adelaide fell to the Giants, 8.9 (57) to 10.11 (71) at Adelaide Oval.
Speaking to the media on Monday, Rahilly said it was disappointing the side couldn’t match the Giants’ pressure in the final quarter.
“We are obviously pretty disappointed with the result, especially the last quarter and a half of the game,” Rahilly said.
“The game sort of ebbed and flowed, they got on top and then we got on top at times around the contest, and then in the last quarter we were not able to put a score on the board.
“They defended really well, their pressure was good and their back six held up really well.
“It was disappointing because we just couldn’t get it done like we usually have been able to.”
Rahilly said competition for AFL selection was strong and there were a lot of players in the SANFL knocking on the door.
“We’ve got a lot of guys playing really well in the SANFL, a lot of our midfielders are really putting their hand up as well as some defenders,” Rahilly said.
“There are some guys in really good form… we will have a look at all of these things.
“We've got a few options there (in the SANFL) which is good.”
The Crows will travel to the MCG to face Melbourne on Sunday.
Rahilly said Adelaide was looking forward to returning to the MCG and was excited by the challenge presented by the Demons.
“It is a very important game and we are rapt to play on the MCG against a team like Melbourne, it's really exciting for us,” Rahilly said.
“We nearly got the game won against Collingwood at the MCG and we are looking forward to getting back there.
“Going to the MCG and playing Melbourne, who was in pretty good form against Brisbane, is a great test for where we are at.”
Adelaide takes on Melbourne at the MCG on Sunday at 2.50pm ACST.
