Adelaide Senior Coach Matthew Nicks says forward Shane McAdam’s inclusion in the Crows’ line-up is set to bring a fresh dynamic to the team.
The Crows have made two changes ahead of their match against GWS at Adelaide Oval on Saturday night, with McAdam and defender Jordon Butts returning to the side.
McAdam will play his first AFL match since Round One and Nicks said after strong form in the SANFL across the past month, the forward had earned a recall.
“Shane at his best, really adds to that forward line dynamic and changes us a little down there,” said Nicks.
“It means we will be a little bit taller, he’s an aerial player but he brings that ground level pressure as well.
“We’ve been keen to add him back in as soon as we can but we have wanted to make sure that he had enough games under his belt that he could perform at the level.
“We are confident he’s got that footy in him now.”
Midfielder Rory Sloane will celebrate his 250th match this weekend and Nicks said he hoped the side could cap the festivities with a win.
“Rory is the club really, we put values together as a footy club about care, compassion, connection and courage and Rory is all of those,” said Nicks.
“He’s respected throughout the league and he’s been a real weapon for us this year both on and off the field.
“We hope we can return the favour to him, you want to perform well for your champions and he’s a champion of this club.”
Nicks said he expected the clash against the Giants to be a significant challenge but one the Crows were ready for.
“They’re (GWS) a great footy side and at their best they are going to be hard to beat for any side,” said Nicks.
“We don’t take any game lightly or the importance of us getting our process right and that intensity to match it with our opposition.
“We have sat down as a group and have a number of things in place but one of those things is making sure we are ready.”
Adelaide takes on Greater Western Sydney at Adelaide Oval this Saturday night, with the first bounce at 7.10pm.
