Adelaide has added five players to its extended squad for its clash against Essendon at Marvel Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Patrick Parnell, Harry Schoenberg, James Borlase and Elliott Himmelberg all take their place on the extended bench after featuring in the SANFL last weekend.
Lachlan Sholl rounds out the inclusions to the squad, after coming on as the substitute in the Crows’ victory over North Melbourne last weekend.
Defender Jordon Butts will miss the match due to concussion.
Speaking to the media on Thursday, Senior Coach Matthew Nicks said he was still working through the structure of the back six in Butts' absence.
“Obviously Buttsy is a big out, he’s been our rock down there,” Nicks said.
“The most pleasing part is that we’ve got players who are ready to play at SANFL level and have been pushing to play.
“We’ve played some great footy where we’ve shuffled in games, but at the same time we’ve got guys playing good footy below (in the SANFL).”
The Crows will be looking to secure their ninth win of the season against the Bombers, who sit just one spot behind them on the ladder.
Nicks said he was excited for the challenge the Bombers will present on their Marvel Stadium home deck.
“We’ve had our chances away from home, games we could have won but didn’t,” Nicks said.
“So that is our work on, to stay composed and take advantage of our opportunities when they come.
“We are really looking forward to this challenge, there aren’t many bigger (tests) at the moment, Essendon is playing great footy so we are really excited for this test.”
Adelaide will name its final team at 4.30pm on Friday.
The Crows take on Essendon at Marvel Stadium this Sunday, with the first bounce at 2.50pm (ACST).
