Crows midfielder/forward Ben Keays has been offered a $1000 fine with an early plea for a misconduct charge stemming from Sunday’s loss to Collingwood at the MCG.
Keays was cited by the Match Review Officer following an incident involving Collingwood ruckman/forward Mason Cox in the fourth quarter at the MCG.
The 26-year-old says it was never his intention to remove Cox’s glasses during the altercation.
“It was a complete accident,” Keays said.
“I ran up to grab the back of his guernsey to pull him away and got pushed from behind and I had no idea how I ended up with his glasses, they somehow got caught on my hand.
“I understand why I’ve received the fine but I just wanted to make it clear that I would never intentionally do something like that and I want to apologise to Mason that it occurred.”
