Patrick Dangerfield has polled 32 votes in his last four games to move into seventh spot in the AFL Coaches Association Champion Player of the Year.
Dangerfield received nine votes from coaches Brenton Sanderson and Nathan Buckley in Adelaide’s win over Collingwood. Despite being heavily tagged, the two-time All Australian amassed a season-high 32 possessions and career-best 12 clearances against the Magpies. Of Dangerfield’s 32 disposals, 20 were contested – a game high. He also gained a game-high 669 metres and an equal team-high nine inside 50ms and eight tackles.

After not polling a vote in the opening four rounds, Dangerfield now has 32 to sit level with Melbourne skipper Nathan Jones overall.
In-form forward Josh Jenkins earned seven votes for his influential performance in attack. Jenkins kicked multiple goals for the fifth straight week, slotting his third bag of four this season. He also took five marks and laid five tackles
Consistent midfielder Scott Thompson collected six votes. The dual Crows best and fairest-winner picked up 30 possessions, 12 clearances, nine inside 50ms and seven tackles in a vintage display.
Key duo Rory Sloane and Daniel Talia each received one vote. Acting co-captain Sloane won six clearances with his 24 disposals. He also generated six inside 50ms and laid eight tackles in an influential display. Talia was rock solid in defence, limiting Collingwood spearhead Travis Cloke to one goal from 11 possessions and a season-low three marks.
Skipper Scott Pendlebury was the only Pies player to be recognised by the coaches. Pendlebury was sublime in a losing side, racking up a game-high 33 disposals, seven clearances and a goal.
Gold Coast captain Gary Ablett (55 votes) extended his lead overall with a perfect 10 in his team’s win over St Kilda. Sydney onballer Josh Kennedy (44) moved into second place after earning maximum votes against Essendon, while Pendlebury (39) has climbed into third place.
