Adelaide defender Josh Worrell will play his first AFL game for this season, after earning selection ahead of the Crows’ Round 11 match against Brisbane.
Forwards Taylor Walker and Riley Thilthorpe return to the line-up, as does backman Tom Doedee, who has recovered from concussion.
Adelaide Senior Coach Matthew Nicks was expecting a tough challenge and said a fast start against the Lions was imperative.
“We dropped away on the weekend (against the Bulldogs), so the boys are hungry this week,” Nicks told the media on Thursday.
“They (Brisbane) are a benchmark side, they are in form, they’re red hot at the moment.
“It’s always important to get a really strong start and we like to bring the crowd into it as well.
“We’ll have our work cut out for ourselves but we’re confident we’ll be bringing it and we want to bounce back.”
Midfielders Ned McHenry and Jackson Hately, defender Patrick Parnell, as well as forward Lachlan Gollant, have been named as the emergencies.
One of the four will be selected as the Crows’ substitute an hour before the first bounce.
Adelaide will host Brisbane at Adelaide Oval on Sunday, at 4.10pm, in week two of Sir Doug Nicholls Round, which honours and celebrates Australia’s Indigenous history.
The Crows will wear their 2023 Indigenous guernsey, designed by Anmatyerr educator and artist April Napangardi Campbell from the Ti Tree community in the Northern Territory.
