Adelaide defender Jordon Butts says he is grateful for the faith the Club has shown him, after agreeing to a three-year contract extension.

The Crows announced on Friday that Butts, who made his AFL debut in 2020 and had since become a mainstay in defence, had recommitted to the Club until at least the end of 2026.

Fresh off helping his side to an emphatic 56-point victory against Carlton at Adelaide Oval to open the AFL’s Gather Round, Butts said he could not be happier to have put pen to paper.

“I am happy to stay at the Club and extend my time here and I am looking forward to what the future holds,” Butts said.

“I love that the Club has put a lot of faith in me and it was an easy decision (to sign), so I’m happy to be here.”

Butts was one of many Adelaide stars at Elder Park on Friday, signing autographs and posing for pictures with fans, as part of the footy festival in SA.

The 23-year-old said Thursday night’s win against Carlton ranked as one of his favourites so far.

“It’s definitely up there,” Butts said.

“It’s always good to win at home in a big round, obviously it being Gather Round.

“The pressure was high being at home and all that, but it’s always good to win at home in front of the fans.

“The rooms were buzzing and we love that everyone is just cracking in and playing their role and we get rewarded for it.”

Butts, who regularly played on some of the competition’s best key forwards, said a full team defence was behind the Crows’ victory against the previously undefeated Blues.

“I thought we supported each other really well.

“They have a strong forward line, so we all supported each other and obviously the mids and the forwards as well, they put a lot of pressure up the ground which gave us a chance to defend.

“It’s really exciting for the players and the fans as well.”
