Two-time Adelaide premiership player Hannah Button will miss Season Eight after tearing her anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) on Wednesday night.
Button was training with her SANFLW team West Adelaide when she injured her left knee during a training drill and will have surgery in coming weeks.
It is the second time she has torn her ACL after also suffering the injury to her right knee in 2019.
Crows Head of Women’s Football Phil Harper said it was heartbreaking for the defender.
“Unfortunately, Hannah has been down this road before,” Harper said.
“She had decided to play some games at West Adelaide in yet another endeavour by her to improve her performance for the benefit of the team and to suffer this injury is very disappointing.
“We know how diligent and hardworking she is therefore she will do everything she can in her rehabilitation to come back from the injury and the Club will fully support her during that time.”
Adelaide will apply to have Button placed on its inactive list for Season Eight while she rehabilitates her injury.
