Adelaide and GWS have faced off 15 times since the Giants joined the competition in 2012.

Adelaide comfortably holds the lead in the head-to-head ledger - 10 wins to 5 - but the Giants have had the upper hand in recent times, winning three of the past five meetings.

The last time these teams opened the season playing one another was in 2017 where the Crows won by 56-points.

Forward Josh Jenkins kicked three goals along with 20 disposals while Rory Laird had 40 touches and 573 meters gained.

The two sides have met once in the Finals, playing in the 2017 Qualifying Final where Adelaide won by 48-points thanks to a three-goal performance from Eddie Betts

Adelaide recorded its second biggest score ever against GWS in Round Seven of 2013, scoring 187-points with Tom Lynch booting 10 goals. The 135-point loss was the Giants second biggest losing margin while it was Adelaide’s fifth largest margin of victory.

Across the past five games against the Giants, Laird has been a standout contributor, averaging 28.2 disposals, 5.2 tackles and 99.8 AFL Fantasy Points

Key forward Taylor Walker has been able to hit the scoreboard in each of the last five meetings averaging 1.6 goals, while Tom Doedee has made his presence felt in defence averaging 17.7 disposals and 6.7 marks in the three games he has played against the Giants.

From GWS, Captain Toby Greene has caused problems for Adelaide’s defenders having kicked the most goals against the Crows amongst current GWS players with 15 – four coming when the teams met last in Round Seven 2022.

Midfielder Stephen Coniglio has shown his ability to hit the scoreboard averaging 22 disposals, 4.8 tackles and 1.4 goals in his past five games against Adelaide, while Josh Kelly has been dominant with 30 touches and 4.2 marks.

Adelaide has a winning record in New South Wales – singing the song in 16 of its 27 games played.

Matthew Nicks has only tasted victory once in the three games he has coached against the Giants, with GWS proving a difficult match-up for the Crows in recent times, handing them their biggest defeats in 2022 and 2021 – 59-points and 67-points.

While new GWS coach Adam Kingsley is yet to coach a game, as a player he played Adelaide 15 times, winning nine and losing six.

If Adelaide wins, it will be the 15th time in 33 seasons they have begun the season with a victory having last done it in 2021 when they defeated Geelong by 11-points.

If GWS wins, it will be the sixth time in 12 seasons they have opened the season with a win and the first time since 2020.
