Adelaide AFLW Senior Coach Matthew Clarke says his side is embracing the opportunity ahead of its Semi-Final match against Collingwood.
The Crows take on the Magpies at Unley Oval on Saturday, with the winner progressing to a Preliminary Final clash against Brisbane.
Speaking to the media on Thursday, Clarke said the side was keen to play in front of a home crowd, as it looked to atone for its Qualifying Final loss to Melbourne last week.
“It’s a really important game,” Clarke said.
“Clearly last week we had opportunities to win a game of footy and we didn’t, so we need to respond to that.
“We’ve got an opportunity to put ourselves into a Prelim Final.
“We have to do everything we can to win a game of footy to give everyone a chance to play next week.”
Clarke also encouraged Members and fans to attend the Crows’ open training session, which gets underway at Unley Oval on Friday from 5.30pm.
“We’ll have our training sessions tomorrow night at Uney, it’s an open session,so get along if you can, we’d love to see as many there,” Clarke said.
“Then we’ll narrow the focus and get to work.”
Adelaide will be without Captain Chelsea Randall for the match, after being ruled out due to the AFL’s concussion protocol.
Clarke said it was disappointing but the focus would now need to quickly switch to Saturday’s game.
“It’s tough,” Clarke said.
“As much as we would like to have her out there, we won’t, so now we just move forward and pick the team.
“The players who are going to play have the opportunity to represent our Club really strongly.
“One thing I know about footballers is that once you get close to that moment in a game, they can focus pretty sharply.”
Adelaide’s team will be announced on Friday at 5pm.
Adelaide battles Collingwood in an elimination Semi-Final at Unley Oval on Saturday, with the first bounce at 3.10pm.
