Adelaide’s newest recruit Izak Rankine will don the number 22 on his Crows guernsey.
The former Sun arrived at West Lakes via the trade period in October after a deal was struck with Gold Coast.
The number 22 has formerly been worn by cult figures Ian Perrie and Andy Otten, as well as Michael Murphy.
More recently, the number was worn by Billy Frampton, who played 21 AFL games for the Crows before being traded to Collingwood this month.
Speaking to AFC Media, Rankine, who wore the same number at the Suns, said wearing the 22 at Adelaide “felt right”.
“I originally wanted number 23 at the Gold Coast because that’s my birthday number, but I couldn’t get that, so I ended up with 22,” Rankine said.
“It was a new number at the time that I had never worn before but it just felt right, I really wanted to make it my own and carry it through to my new Club.”
Adelaide secured the exciting young forward in exchange for Pick 5, a future third and fourth round draft selection.
Rankine, who grew up supporting the Crows, informed Adelaide of his desire to join the Club in August.
To celebrate Rankine’s new number, get 22% off 2022 Crows guernseys at CROWmania for the rest of the week.
The offer is live online now (applied at check out) and available in store from Wednesday.
