Adelaide AFLW defender Marijana Rajcic says Pride Round is an opportunity to celebrate diversity and inclusivity across the League.
The Crows will celebrate Pride Round in their clash against Fremantle at Unley Oval this Saturday by donning specially-designed guernseys.
Adelaide’s Guernsey has the rainbow flag woven seamlessly into the centre of the design, reflecting how LGBTIQA+ fans are a core part of the Adelaide Football Club community.
The 2022 design increases the visibility of the rainbow flag, with the colours added to the shoulders of the guernsey.
Speaking to AFC Media, Rajcic said she hoped the guernsey and Pride Round would send a message of inclusion to all AFLW fans.
“Pride Round is about being inclusive,” Rajcic said.
“As a Club we want to be inclusive of everyone, no matter their race, religion, gender.
“It’s about making sure everyone belongs somewhere and there’s a community out there that’s willing to make you feel like you belong and you belong with us.”
The AFLW Pride Round was established in 2021 to recognise and support the LGBTIQA+ community by celebrating inclusiveness, gender diversity and welcoming all people.
Rajcic said hosting a Pride Round game was a chance to show the wider community football was a sport for all.
“It’s huge, it’s a way of giving people who might not have a chance to have a voice,” Rajcic said.
“I know last season when we wore it, Doc said we are not just playing for us, we are playing for our family and for others.
“We love wearing this guernsey and we want to make our Members and fans proud.”
The Crows will enter their clash with the Dockers fresh off a 60-point victory in the inaugural Showdown against cross-town rivals Port Adelaide.
Rajcic said it was important to use that momentum with just four games remaining in the minor round.
“Freo have had some injuries but now they’re coming good and it’s always a good battle with them,” Rajcic said.
“They have a strong midfield and we know it’s going to start there, so hopefully we can get the job done.”
The Crows play Fremantle at Unley Oval on Saturday, with the first bounce at 2.40pm.

Adelaide will also wear its Pride Guernsey in Round Eight against Brisbane at Metricon Stadium.
