Young Adelaide midfielder Sam Berry has won the 2022 Mark Bickley Emerging Talent Award.

In a breakout second season, Berry finished first in the League for tackles (9.5 per game) and nearly doubled his average disposal count (from 9 to 17.6).

The Mark Bickley Emerging Talent Award recognises the achievements of a player under the age of 21 as the best ‘all round’ emerging talent.

Berry played 18 games in his second season and was a staple in the side from Round Five onwards.

He recorded a career-best 25 disposals in Round 14 against Gold Coast and a hugely impressive 17 tackles against Collingwood in Round 18 - making him equal-fourth for most tackles in a game in AFL history.

The 20-year-old follows in the footsteps of teammates and former winners including Tom Doedee, Rory Sloane and Harry Schoenberg.
