Chris Judd is an outside chance to line up for Carlton this Sunday against Adelaide at the MCG.
Judd injured his hamstring in the Blues’ Round Five clash with the Western Bulldogs minutes after being subbed into the match. The 30-year-old veteran has progressed ahead of schedule in his rehabilitation and has begun a high-intensity running program as part of his comeback.
Carlton assistant coach Dean Laidley said the dual Brownlow Medallist was on track for an imminent return.
"He's running…he's starting to get some higher-end speed work in, so it's a week-by-week thing,” Laidley said.
"We certainly need to make sure we get it right for his sake and obviously for the club's sake, because we really want him to play some really good footy for us in the back half of the year."
Experienced pair Andrew Carrazzo and Jarrad Waite could also be amongst the inclusions for Carlton after overcoming back complaints in recent weeks.
Carlton’s VFL affiliate the Northern Blues had the bye last week, but the consistent form of Jaryd Cachia and Andrew McInnes could see coach Mick Malthouse shuffle the magnets ahead of Sunday’s clash with the Crows.
Meanwhile, Blues veteran Heath Scotland has been placed on the club’s long-term injury list and announced he will retire at season’s end due to an ongoing degenerative ankle injury.
Scotland has played 215 AFL games for Carlton since crossing from Collingwood at the conclusion of the 2003 season.
