Can a Crow take home the Brownlow Medal for the first time since Mark Ricciuto in 2003?

We'll find out on Monday night, but in the lead-up to the 2012 count afc.com.au casts an eye over Adelaide's minor-round performances and tries to predict where the Crows votes might fall.

Today, we look at Rounds 1-6:

Round One

Adelaide 19.23 (137) d Gold Coast 10.8 (68)
Metricon Stadium

Major ball winners:
Gary Ablett (GC) - 42 possessions, seven clearances and two goals
Scott Thompson (Adel) - 39 possessions, six clearances and two goal assists
Patrick Dangerfield (Adel) - 25 possessions, nine clearances and two goals
Rory Sloane (Adel) - 24 possessions, 11 inside 50ms, nine tackles, five clearances and 1.1
Brent Reilly (Adel) - 23 possessions, five inside 50ms and four tackles
Sam Jacobs (Adel) - 18 possessions, 18 hit-outs and three tackles

Leading goalkickers:

Taylor Walker (Adel): 5.2, 15 possessions and eight marks
Kurt Tippett (Adel): 4.3, 19 possessions, 13 hit-outs and seven marks

Coaches votes
10 Scott Thompson (Adel)
8 Gary Ablett (GC)
4 Sam Jacobs (Adel)
4 Kurt Tippett (Adel)
3 Rory Sloane (Adel)
1 Taylor Walker (Adel)

Where the votes will go …
One of the favourites for the Brownlow, Scott Thompson, should kick off the count with three votes. Rory Sloane, Patrick Dangerfield, Kurt Tippett and Taylor Walker were also influential, but it will be hard for the umpires to overlook Gary Ablett in the voting after a 42-possession display in a losing side.

Our prediction:
3 - Scott Thompson (Adel)
2 - Gary Ablett (GC)
1 - Kurt Tippett (Adel)

Will the umpires reward Kurt Tippett or Taylor Walker for dominant displays against a young Gold Coast defence?

Round Two

Adelaide 11.16 (82) d Western Bulldogs 9.10 (64)
AAMI Stadium

Major ball winners:

Scott Thompson (Adel) - 34 possessions, five clearances and four tackles
Ryan Griffen (Bulldogs) - 31 possessions, six clearances and four marks
Matthew Boyd (Bulldogs) - 28 possessions, seven clearances and 2.1
Liam Picken (Bulldogs) - 28 possessions, four clearances and 1.0
Bernie Vince (Adel) - 26 possessions, six clearances and 0.2
Brent Reilly (Adel) - 25 possessions, eight marks and three inside 50ms
Michael Doughty (Adel) - 24 possessions, seven marks and five rebound 50ms
Nathan van Berlo (Adel) - 23 possessions, nine tackles and five clearances

Leading goalkickers:
Taylor Walker (Adel) - 3.4, 16 possessions and six marks
Tom Lynch (Adel) - 2.1, 17 possessions and 11 marks
Jared Petrenko (Adel) - 2.0, 10 possessions and four inside 50ms

Coaches votes
9 Scott Thompson (Adel)
8 Matthew Boyd (Bulldogs)
7 Brent Reilly (Adel)
4 Ryan Griffen (Bulldogs)
1 Lukas Markovic (Bulldogs)
1 Taylor Walker (Adel)

Where the votes will go …
Milestone man Thompson should collect another three votes here in his 200th game, while Brent Reilly and Taylor Walker could be recognised for dominant displays at either end of the ground. Again, an opposition player - this time Boyd or Griffen - could pinch a vote in a losing team.

Our prediction:
3 - Scott Thompson (Adel)
2 - Brent Reilly (Adel)
1 - Matthew Boyd (Bulldogs)

Scott Thompson is a lock to receive three votes in his 200th game .. isn't he?

Round Three
Adelaide 12.12 (84) lost to Hawthorn 21.14 (140)
MCG

Major ball winners:

Josh Gibson (Haw) - 30 possessions, 15 marks and six tackles
Brent Guerra (Haw) - 27 possessions, eight marks and three rebound 50ms
Patrick Dangerfield (Haw) - 27 possessions, 10 clearances, seven inside 50ms and five tackles
Scott Thompson (Adel) - 25 possessions, seven clearances and two tackles
Brendan Whitecross (Haw) - 25 possessions, 12 marks and 1.0
Lance Franklin (Haw) - 24 possessions, eight marks and 3.2

Leading goalkickers:
Kurt Tippett (Adel): 3.3, 17 possessions and eight marks
Lance Franklin (Haw): 3.2
Luke Breust (Haw): 3.2, 16 possessions and five marks
Ian Callinan (Adel): 3.0, 21 possessions

Coaches votes
8 Josh Gibson (Haw)
5 Jordan Lewis (Haw)
4 Ben Stratton (Haw)
4 Brendan Whitecross (Haw)
3 Luke Breust (Haw)
2 Lance Franklin (Haw)
2 Kurt Tippett (Adel)
1 Patrick Dangerfield (Adel)
1 Brent Guerra (Haw)

Where the votes will go …

It’s hard to see any Adelaide players receiving votes in what was a disappointing loss for the Club. Kurt Tippett, Patrick Dangerfield and goalsneak Ian Callinan all won their positions, but would consider themselves very lucky to attract the attention of the umpires here.

Our prediction:
No Crows votes

Round Four
Adelaide 13.18 (96) d GWS 7.8 (50)
AAMI Stadium

Major ball winners:
Callan Ward (GWS): 33 possessions, seven clearances, six tackles and 0.2
Luke Power (GWS): 31 possessions, six marks and four tackles
Scott Thompson (Adel): 27 possessions, seven clearances, six tackles and 1.0
Brent Reilly (Adel): 27 possessions, four marks and four clearances
Nathan van Berlo (Adel): 27 possessions, nine tackles, eight clearances and six inside 50ms
Rory Sloane (Adel): 24 possessions, seven clearances, eight tackles and 1.0
Patrick Dangerfield (Adel): 24 possessions, six clearances and two inside 50ms

Leading goalkickers:
Kurt Tippett (Adel): 4.1, 17 possessions and five marks
Curtly Hampton (GWS): 3.0, eight possessions and three marks
Jason Porplyzia (Adel): 2.0, 14 possessions and five tackles

Coaches votes
9 Rory Sloane (Adel)
8 Nathan Van Berlo (Adel)
4 Kurt Tippett (Adel)
3 Scott Thompson (Adel)
2 Callan Ward (GWS)
2 Brent Reilly (Adel)
1 Tom Scully (GWS)
1 Luke Power (GWS)

Where the votes will go …
The Crows onballers could steal important votes from each other in this game. Sloane, Thompson, Dangerfield and skipper Nathan van Berlo were strong at the contest in slippery conditions, while Tippett bagged another four goals in a powerful display. Sloane’s running Goal of the Year contender might be enough to give him the edge in best afield honours.

Our prediction:
3 - Rory Sloane
2 - Scott Thompson
1 - Kurt Tippett

The umpire was in perfect position to see this Sloane possession

Round Five
Adelaide 16.14 (110) d Port Adelaide 14.7 (91)
AAMI Stadium

Major ball winners:
Patrick Dangerfield (Adel) - 39 possessions, 14 inside 50ms, eight marks and seven clearances
Scott Thompson (Adel) - 34 possessions, eight marks, eight inside 50ms, seven clearances and 1.1
Rory Sloane (Adel) - 27 possessions, six marks and three inside 50ms
Kane Cornes (PA) - 27 possessions, 10 marks and four clearances
Travis Boak (PA) - 25 possessions, five inside 50ms and four tackles
Troy Chaplin (PA) - 22 possessions, 11 marks and 10 rebound 50ms
Matt Wright (Adel) - 20 possessions, six tackles and 1.0

Leading goalkickers:
Taylor Walker (Adel): 6.1, 17 possessions, nine marks and seven inside 50ms
Justin Westhoff (PA): 4.1, 16 possessions and nine marks
John Butcher (PA): 4.0, 11 possessions and four marks
Graham Johncock (Adel): 2.1, 17 possessions, seven marks and five tackles
Jared Petrenko (Adel): 2.0, 16 possessions and eight tackles

Coaches votes
10 Patrick Dangerfield (Adel)
7 Taylor Walker (Adel)
4 Rory Sloane (Adel)
4 Justin Westhoff (Port)
2 Jared Petrenko (Adel)
2 Scott Thompson (Adel)
1 Matt Wright (Adel)

Where the votes will go …
Dangerfield was awarded the Balfours Showdown Medal for best on ground, and it’s hard to see the umpires disagreeing. Walker should earn two votes for his six-goal haul, while Thompson and Sloane are likely to battle it out for the remaining vote.

Our prediction:
3 - Patrick Dangerfield
2 - Taylor Walker
1 - Scott Thompson

Teammates congratulate Patrick Dangerfield on winning the Showdown medal

Round Six

Adelaide 15.9 (99) d Sydney Swans 14.10 (94)
SCG

Rory Sloane (Adel) - 29 possessions, six marks and five inside 50ms
Lewis Jetta (Syd) - 27 possessions, nine inside 50ms, seven marks and 2.2

Leading goalkickers:
Adam Goodes (Syd): 5.1, 14 possessions and six marks
Taylor Walker (Adel): 5.0, 12 possessions and seven marks
Ryan O’Keefe (Syd): 3.0, 19 possessions, six tackles and four inside 50ms
Ian Callinan  (Adel): 2.0, 20 possessions and five inside5 50ms
Jared Petrenko (Adel): 3.0, 15 possessions and five inside 50ms

Coaches votes
10 Patrick Dangerfield (Adel)
7 Lewis Jetta (Syd)
5 Taylor Walker (Adel)
4 Rory Sloane (Adel)
3 Adam Goodes (Syd)
1 Brent Reilly (Adel)

Where the votes will go …
Dangerfield, who was instrumental in turning the game back Adelaide’s way in the second half, should collect his second set of three votes but the minor votes could go anywhere. A proven vote-getter, Brownlow Medallist Adam Goodes was in rare form before injuring his leg early in the last quarter, while Lewis Jetta was also eye-catching. Walker deserves to be rewarded for kicking five goals without miss, while Sloane, Thompson and Reilly will all be around the mark again.

Our prediction:
3 - Patrick Dangerfield (Adel)
2 - Taylor Walker (Adel)
1 - Adam Goodes (Syd)

Crows Brownlow Medal leaderboard after Round Six
