Forward Shane McAdam will miss Saturday night’s Showdown against Port Adelaide after suffering a hamstring injury on the weekend.
McAdam sustained the injury while leading for the footy in the final quarter of Saturday’s win over North Melbourne and scans confirmed the damage on Monday.
“Unfortunately Shane has a hamstring strain so will miss the Showdown this week,” High Performance Manager Darren Burgess said.
“It’s a reasonable strain, it’s hard to tell how long he would be out for if it was during the middle of the season but he will need a process of rehabilitation to get himself right for pre-season.
“Shane has been playing really well and he only told me today that he’s never played in a Showdown and was really looking forward to it so it’s a big loss for us.”
Wayne Milera will be tested at training this week after he was a late withdrawal from Saturday’s clash with the Kangaroos due to a back complaint.
“Junior jagged his back on Wednesday after training and stirred it up a little bit,” Burgess said.
“On Friday he tried to complete most of the captain’s run and woke up sore on Saturday morning so we took the conservative measure and didn’t play him, but he’s presented really well this week and hopefully he’ll train on Wednesday and be available on Saturday night.”
