On Monday morning, AFC Media called on its fans to name their favourite Crow of all time in this tweet:
Social Experiment: If you come across this tweet, reply with your favourite Crow (past or present!).
— Adelaide Crows (@Adelaide_FC) June 24, 2019
DO NOT read the replies before you comment.
We'll send a signed footy to one random response!#weflyasone
And from over 1,500 responses, Crows legend Andrew McLeod was the overwhelming response.
Within hours, he was trending on Twitter across Australia.
It prompted fans to also share their favourite memories of the dual Norm Smith medallist - like this tweet from celebrity chef Adam Liaw that got a reaction from McLeod himself:
You big scary man @adamliaw

That was our first real trip with the kids o/s, a bit like playing your first game. All the gear and no idea.. https://t.co/HToqpyKmxW
And this story from journalist Jackson Ryan, who shared a Twitter thread he created in 2018 about the first time he met his hero:
This is a story about one of the best @Adelaide_FC players ever. Andrew @bunji_XXIII McLeod, #23. But it's also a story about a young boy meeting an idol and why sport is great, but its also filled with amazing people. pic.twitter.com/dfml6Akk4I

He may have been the top choice, but McLeod wasn’t the only Crow to get a mention.
Tony Modra, Mark Ricciuto, Eddie Betts and Rory Sloane were also popular picks, but there were many, many more.
