Adelaide small forward Ned McHenry has notched plenty of game time in the past two years.
The Crows No. 25 has missed just two games in the past two seasons, becoming a mainstay of Matthew Nicks’ side.
In 2022, McHenry has averaged career-bests for tackles, inside 50s and rebound 50s as he knows he has a fair bit to still improve on.
Speaking to Bel Sloane on this week’s episode of The Crows Show, McHenry said he hoped to finish the year with some strong form.
“There’s been some areas of my footy that I’ve thought I’ve been consistent (in) but there’s other areas of growth that I want to keep getting better in and keep trying to improve at the level,” McHenry said.
“I’m really grateful to have played a fair bit of footy for the Club this year but I still have a fair bit to improve on.
“There’s obviously still a few games left in the season, so I want to be a member of that group that gets a few good wins and finishes off the end of the year really strongly.”
McHenry, who has played 44 AFL games for the Crows since making his debut in a Showdown in 2020, said having a hobby outside of footy was also important and helped boost his well being.
For McHenry, that hobby is taking out his boat and fishing.
“It’s (fishing) just an amazing outlet for me, it’s a great thing to do after training or after games of footy,” McHenry said.
“It obviously takes my mind off footy and I get off the screen and get to go out on the water and take friends and guys out that don’t usually get to go out very often.
”On days off and days after footy we get to go out there and catch some fish - I love it.
“My favourite fish down here to catch is probably the tuna run in summer.
“But otherwise it’s probably whiting and squid and hopefully snapper after the ban is over.”
Also on The Crows Show this week, Tariek Newchurch joins Tom Doedee to discuss his Hungry Jack's Whopper Moment, while Mitch Hinge talks about how he’s found his feet after last year’s season-ending injury.
The Crows Show airs on Channel 7 this Saturday from 12.30pm.
