It’s been almost a month since Brett Turner heard Adelaide call out his name at the 2022 AFL Mid-Season Rookie Draft.
And the former Glenelg on-baller says he has since settled into life at West Lakes well but there is one aspect of life as a Crow that’s taken a little bit more time to get used to.
“It’s a little bit different to working, to be honest,” Turner said on this week’s episode of The Crows Show.
“From a SANFL to an AFL aspect, there’s a lot more that goes into it.
“Obviously the AFL training is probably the biggest thing - the time commitment with how often you are training - that’s probably been the biggest thing - the hours you do train for.
“I’ve been a bit sore after some of the bigger sessions.
“But I’ll adapt to that.”
The 25-year-old onballer, who can also play wing and half-forward, averaged 24 disposals and 1.5 goals per game in the first four rounds of this SANFL season with Glenelg.
Despite spending some time since arriving at West Lakes rehabbing a foot injury, Turner said it looked “to be all healed” and he was set to be fit for the second half of the season.
“The body has been pretty good,” Turner said.
“(My) personal goal to start with, short term, is to actually play four quarters and get through that in the SANFL.
“Obviously to then try and have a crack at AFL level once I’ve proven myself at SANFL level.
“But it’s just really to play one game, at the minute.”
Turner also revealed Crows Skipper Rory Sloane was his favourite player growing up and he was keen to learn the midfield craft from him.
“I’ve followed Sloaney for a long time,” Turner said.
“I came to an under-16 sort of camp here with my school and he was the marquee man at the time.
“Even just talking with him in the gym, I’m still a little bit nervous around him.
“But they’ve (the players) all been great across the board.”
Also on The Crows Show, Jake Soligo joins Belinda Sloane to talk about his recent AFL form and his new housemate, while Josh Worrell joins Tom Doedee to discuss his Hungry Jack's Whopper Moment.
The Crows Show airs on Channel 7 this Sunday at 12pm.
