Adelaide will start the season with two players ranked inside the top 12 of the AFL’s Official Player Ratings.

The Official AFL Player Ratings system was introduced in 2012 as a cumulative statistical measure of a player’s impact. The ratings are based on a complex algorithm which assesses a range of measures from a player’s last 40 games.

Rory Sloane is the Club’s highest ranked player at No.5 in the overall standings with 588.5 rating points.

Despite missing five games with injury last season, Sloane ranked third at the Crows for contested possessions, clearances, tackles and score assists. The 2013 Club Champion also finished sixth in last year’s best and fairest count.

Sloane has maintained a top-10 standing in the AFL’s Player Ratings system since Round 18, 2014.

Sam Jacobs is the next Crow in line ranked No.12 overall.

The 202cm ruckman was one of Adelaide’s big movers last season. After starting the year at No.40, Jacobs hit the top 10 for the first time in his career late in the minor round.

Sauce amassed a Club-record 859 hit-outs in 2015 and finished the year third in the AFL for hit-outs to advantage. He’ll begin the new season as the third-highest rated ruckman behind North Melbourne’s Todd Goldstein (No.4) and West Coast’s Nic Naitanui (No.8).

Eddie Betts’ ranking has grown steadily since he joined the Crows ahead of Season 2014.

After crossing from Carlton, Betts has improved his rating from No.92 to now be ranked 21^st overall. He reached a career-best 16^th following a 17-possession and two-goal return against the Eagles in Round 22 last year.

It’s more deserved recognition for the forward, who earned his first All Australian nod after booting 63 goals last year to top Adelaide’s goalkicking table for the second season in succession.

Only Cyril Rioli (No. 18) and Chad Wingard (No.20) are ahead of Betts in the Player Ratings’ small/medium forward category.

Brodie Smith is Adelaide’s leading defender ranked No.45 in the AFL according to the Player Ratings formula.

The 2014 All Australian will be out to recapture his best form this year following an injury-interrupted 2015 which saw his official ranking ease from No.3 at the start of the season.

Easton Wood is the only small/medium defender ahead of Smith in the standings at No.34 overall.

Richard Douglas (59) and Scott Thompson (71) are the remaining Crows ranked inside the top 100.

Brownlow Medallist Nat Fyfe will start the new season as the No.1 ranked player in the competition with 652.4 rating points.

Midfielders Scott Pendlebury (Collingwood) and Patrick Dangerfield (Geelong) round out the top three, ahead of the Goldstein and Sloane.

Western Bulldogs youngster Marcus Bontempelli was the biggest mover in the upper echelon of the standings. The 20-year-old will start the year from No.11 after starting last season ranked No.337 overall.
