Adelaide midfielder Rory Laird has praised his side's mental resilience to grind out a win against the Tigers on Saturday.
The Crows finished Round Five with a 19-point victory at Adelaide Oval but only after surrendering momentum in the third quarter with Richmond surging towards a lead.
Despite a run of four unanswered goals, the Crows fought back with the final three majors of the term.
“It was a massive confidence booster for us,” Laird told the media on Tuesday.
“It’s a good builder for us to be in an arm wrestle with a really good side like Richmond… they've come back, hit the front by a point.
“For us to say ‘no, we’re not going to let this happen’, especially after Fremantle and Essendon, was really good for us going forward.”
On Wednesday, Adelaide announced it would pay tribute to frontline workers in the Round Seven game against GWS.
To recognise their ongoing dedication in the face of the pandemic, the Crows are offering public sector nurses, doctors, paramedic, police officers, human services frontline workers and teachers the chance to access a complimentary ticket to the Crows-Giants game.
“It’s a tiny bit of reward for all the work the frontliners have done,” Laird said.
“I think it’s fantastic. Everyone in the community can see and appreciate the work they’ve done.
“It won’t cover just how thankful we are, but hopefully we have a win and they can enjoy the game.”
Crows captain Rory Sloane was confirmed to have suffered an ACL rupture against Richmond and will miss the remainder of the season.
Laird expected Sloane to still have an impact on Adelaide’s season, albeit off field.
“Rory is the heart and soul of the Club,” Laird said.
“It’s not just what he’s done on field, but the off field leadership and what he does there.
“It will be tough for him, but he seemed in good spirits yesterday.”
Adelaide will travel to Ballarat on Saturday to face the Western Bulldogs at Mars Stadium at 1.15pm ACST.
