Griffin best for Central District
Jonathon Griffin produced a best on ground effort against South Adelaide.
He had 14 kicks, eight handballs, six marks, 29 hit-outs and also kicked two goals on the run.
Shaun McKernan and Myke Cook were on the losing side. Cook played as a half-back changing on the ball and collected 10 kicks and 12 handballs.
McKernan also tried hard all day and was particularly impressive in the second half when he spent more time on the ball. He kicked two goals on the run from outside 50, and finished with 15 kicks, six marks, eight handballs and 12 hit-outs.
Brad Moran was high among West’s best in its four-point loss to Glenelg. Playing mainly in the ruck, he had seven kicks, nine marks, 10 handballs and 22 hit-outs in a strong performance.
Chris Schmidt (six kicks, 14 handballs) played at half back. For Glenelg, James Sellar spent the first half in the ruck and as a forward and then went to full back in the second half. He had seven kicks, six marks and four handballs.
Tony Armstrong continued to show good form with North Adelaide. He won 21 possessions, worked hard to create opportunities and kicked a good running goal.
Phil Davis played his best game at league level for the Roosters. He had six kicks, nine handballs and six marks in defence, where he was reliable and made good decisions.
Jarrhan Jacky was again busy for the Eagles, who beat Port Adelaide at Alberton. He had 12 kicks and eight handballs, kicked two goals reading off packs and took a couple of strong marks.
Rookie Ricky Henderson made his reserves debut for Central and showed some good signs. Playing as a forward, he had 17 possessions and kicked two goals. For Norwood, Will Young (12 possessions) was again good in defence where he was strong in the air and Aaron Kite (12 kicks, eight handballs) finished the game strongly.
Brian Donnelly (six possessions) made a bright start for Glenelg at half-back and then fell out of the game after copping knocks to a leg. Greg Gallman returned from his collarbone injury with North’s reserves and played on the ball, collecting seven kicks and eight handballs before tiring later in the second half.
