Adelaide will not appeal the AFL Tribunal’s decision to uphold a one-match suspension placed on Crows AFLW ruck Montana McKinnon.

McKinnon, 20, will miss Saturday’s AFLW Grand Final against Melbourne after being offered the ban for engaging in rough conduct with Fremantle’s Kiara Bowers during the Preliminary Final last weekend.

Adelaide’s bid to have the incident downgraded to low impact was unsuccessful at the Tribunal on Tuesday night.

After a review of proceedings this morning, the Club has decided against appealing the decision due to there being no fresh grounds to contest the outcome.

Crows AFLW Head of Football Phil Harper said the Club was shattered for the young star who had worked hard to cement her spot in the side this season.

“We are extremely disappointed that Montana won’t be playing this weekend,” Harper said.

“From not playing a game last year to now being a key member of our side, she has improved markedly and been a significant contributor throughout what has been a fantastic season.

“As a Club, we did our very best to try and have the match review’s rough conduct finding downgraded.

“Despite our challenge being unsuccessful, we maintain that incident does not warrant a young player missing a Grand Final.”
