Adelaide ruck Montana McKinnon has been charged with engaging in rough conduct against Fremantle's Kiara Bowers.

The incident occurred in the second term of Adelaide's preliminary final win over the Dockers on Saturday.

McKinnon can accept a one-match ban with an early plea.

The incident was graded Careless Conduct, Medium Impact and High Contact.

Adelaide will appeal the ban.
