Adelaide’s AFLW side will once again have an opportunity to play on arguably one of the best grounds in the nation with its Preliminary Final to be hosted at Adelaide Oval.

The AFL announced on Thursday that the Crows’ rescheduled Preliminary Final against Fremantle would be at Adelaide Oval on Saturday, April 2, at 2.10pm (ACDT).

Senior Coach Matthew Clarke says players are looking forward to playing in front of home fans at an elite venue.

“It’s very exciting,” Clarke said.

“Obviously there was some conjecture over where we would be playing but given it was pushed back an extra week, I think that freed up the venue.

“We are really happy to be out on Adelaide Oval and it should be a great day.”

Clarke said the big stage would provide a pretty perfect ground for his run-hungry side.

“The dimensions (at The Parade and Adelaide Oval) are a little different. The Parade is a little narrower, the length is similar, but anytime we can get on the best venues, let’s do it.

“The oval we train on is exactly the same dimensions as Adelaide Oval, so that’s pretty good preparation.

We are really excited and really happy that’s where the game is being played.”

Clarke said the Crows had used this week to train at full intensity to get their minds and bodies ready for next week’s big game.

"We are really excited and really happy that’s where the game is being played.

"This week has been good. We've managed to get some quality training in, which is a little bit unusual at the back-end of the season, often you're in maintenance and management mode,” Clarke said.

"To have the group fresh going into this week has enabled us to train with a fair bit of intensity, certainly on Monday, and tonight's (Friday) session will be similar with a fair bit of go about it.

“To get that opportunity late in the season is fairly unique, so we're making the most of it."

Clarke said the Dockers posed plenty of challenges but was confident his side would be ready and its best was good enough to earn a Grand Final berth.

“Their (Fremantle’s) performance on the weekend was really impressive,” Clarke said.

“The game we had against them over in Perth was perhaps not totally reflective, they had a couple of significant outs that day.

“We’ll assess Fremantle and assess what we need and balance it up that way.

“I think it will be a cracking game.

“We played over at Freo Oval, which is actually even bigger, earlier in the season and particularly in the first half, it was a really open game, both teams were transitioning the ball and moving it really well.

“It should be a great game and the venue will add to that.”
