The Crows have extended Brenton Sanderson’s coaching contract for a further two years, tying him to the Club until at least the end of 2016.
A member of Adelaide’s inaugural squad, Sanderson was appointed Senior Coach ahead of the 2012 season. In his first year at the helm, the former Geelong assistant and best-and-fairest winner took the Crows to a Preliminary Final, winning a total of 18 games for the season and finishing third on the AFL ladder.
Sanderson’s second year in charge was full of challenges. After an up-and-down season, the Crows missed out on the final eight with 10 wins. But the continued development of the Club’s younger players, which was highlighted by a Club-record four Rising Star nominations, was a strong indication Sanderson has the talented group heading in the right direction.
Sanderson, 39, was contracted until the end of 2014, but the Crows moved to secure him longer-term before the start of the season.
CEO Steven Trigg said the Club was delighted to extend the popular coach’s contract for two more years.
“We’ve been heading in this direction with our discussions for quite some time but it’s good to have it all done and dusted well before the 2014 season,” Trigg said.
“Brenton has had a range of experiences in his two seasons as senior coach. We are very confident that he is continuing to grow as a coach and is very much the right person to build on all the work of the past two years.”
