Four Crows have been selected in the 40-woman AFL Players’ Association AFLW 22Under22 squad. 

The fan-voted award recognises the best 22 players aged under 22 for the entirety of the AFLW season. 

On Tuesday, the AFL Players Association announced a 31-woman extended squad which included:

  • Teah Charlton
  • Eloise Jones
  • Montana McKinnon
  • Danielle Ponter

Charlton, who picked up a Rising Star nomination in Round Eight, has spent much of her 2022 campaign in the midfield after asking Senior Coach Matthew Clarke how to elevate her game to new heights. 

The 19-year-old has averaged 12 disposals per game, including a career-best 18 in Round Eight against Fremantle, and 4.7 tackles across nine matches this season. 

Jones, who joined the Crows' list in 2018, has also been a rocket for the side in 2022 after a rough pre-season marred by COVID-19 and injury. 

The Crows' No. 2 recorded a career-high 20 disposals against West Coast in Round Three and has booted two goals alongside an average of 3.3 marks and 2.6 tackles per game. 

McKinnon, who was Adelaide’s first selection at the 2019 AFLW Draft, played two games in her debut season but struggled to crack into the Crows’ 2021 side.

But the ruck's hard work and determination showed in 2022.

The 20-year-old became a mainstay of Adelaide's best 22, playing all-but-one game and earning herself a Round Five Rising Star nomination with 12 hit-outs, seven marks and 12 disposals against Carlton.  

Ponter has been named in the extended 22Under22 squad for the third time, cementing herself as one of the Crows' most talented young forwards. 

The dynamic goalkicker - who won the League's Mark of the Year in 2021 - booted five majors for the Crows in Season Six and averaged 9.6 disposals and 2.8 marks. 

Fans will have the opportunity to vote for the four young Crows stars to be selected in the final 22Under22 squad. 

Voting is open for seven days from March 15 to March 22, with the final team will be announced on Tuesday, March 29.
