The 2007 draftee was among North’s best in its 36-point win over South Adelaide at Noarlunga, picking up 25 possessions on the wing and at half-back. He provided plenty of run for the team and his use of the ball and decision-making was also good.
Nick Gill also played well for North, particularly after being switched into defence. He had 22 possessions and rebounded strongly from the back half. Phil Davis was again sold for the Roosters, with 11 possessions, four marks and six spoils.
For the Panthers, Shaun McKernan started slowly as a forward but forced his way into the game in the second half as a ruckman. He had 10 possessions and 15 hit-outs. Myke Cook (11 possessions) did some quality things but dropped in and out of the game.
Jared Petrenko went back to the SANFL with a good attitude and played a significant role in the Eagles’ win over previously unbeaten Central District. Playing mainly at half-forward, he had 10 kicks and seven handballs and booted 2.1.
For the Bulldogs, ruckman Jonathon Griffin had a good duel in the ruck before injuring a calf late in the game. He had 10 possessions and 23 hit-outs.
Rookie Brodie Martin, who represented the SANFL State side the previous weekend, was solid for Sturt in its win over Norwood on Friday night. He was very good in the first half and then was tagged but finished with 17 possessions and set up several goals. Aaron Kite was back in Norwood’s league side but had only one kick and four handballs.
SANFL reserves
Rory Sloane (North) had a good day, working hard inside the packs to collect 21 possessions. Gallman (North) had his best game for some time, picking up 18 possessions.
Jarrhan Jacky (Eagles) struggled in the first half but then showed some positive signs after the break to finish with 12 kicks and nine handballs. Ricky Henderson (Central) started well but faded, collecting 12 possessions as a forward.
