Adelaide midfielder Anne Hatchard knows what it is like to be on the receiving end of a slender loss and it’s not something she wants to feel again.
The Crows fell to the Western Bulldogs by one point just three weeks ago.
But on Sunday, Hatchard’s side was able to turn the tables, beating Collingwood by two points.
Speaking to the media on Monday, the 24-year-old star said the narrow win would give the Crows a boost as they looked to finish off the minor round with a victory.
“It does give us confidence to know the past two games we’ve been able to hold on and get through games with the win,” Hatchard said.
“We don’t give up, we fight hard… going into three-quarter time we knew we had to put the foot down and we did that.
“If there’s more close games to come we know we can fight hard and get the win.
“We want to finish as high on the ladder as we can so we are prepping the same going into the (St Kilda game), fight hard and play our best footy.”
Hatchard said there would be plenty to learn from the match against Collingwood and players would focus on a full four-quarter performance.
“We played one quarter really well (against Collingwood) but in the other three we kind of let it slip a bit,” Hatchard said.
“We really need to fix a few things (including) our pressure and getting to the ball first.
“We need to tighten up our pressure and come out hard.
“These teams are trying to break through us now, but we have the potential to fight that and come out even harder than they are, hopefully.”
“We are going to come out with the mentality that we are playing a finals game every game and just play as hard as we can.”
Adelaide takes on St Kilda at RESA Park on Sunday, March 13, at 12.40pm (ACDT).
