Adelaide midfielder Ebony Marinoff will become one of the first AFLW players to reach the 50-game milestone – alongside two players from Brisbane – when she lines up in the Crows’ clash with Collingwood.
For Marinoff, it’s a milestone that’s been long in the making.
The 24-year-old has not missed a game since debuting in the Crows’ inaugural AFLW match against GWS on February 4, 2017.
Reaching 50 games will be another individual accolade to add to the resume for Marinoff, which includes winning the competition’s inaugural Rising Star award, being a three-times AFLW All Australian, the Crows’ reigning Club Champion and becoming the first AFLW player to amass 1000 disposals.
But speaking to the media on Wednesday, Marinoff said the ultimate success of winning another Premiership was what she craved the most.
“It’s (the milestone) really special and will be a very proud moment when I run out with the girls on Sunday,” Marinoff said.
“It’s been a long journey, six years to get to this point.
“It’s amazing to do it for such a special Club that means so much to me.
“A big part of what we look forward to is being successful every year and trying to gain sustained success.
“To be part of two Premiership teams is incredible.
“I come into every season wanting to hold up one of those cups and to have held it up twice is amazing but I am certainly not satisfied.
“My teammates and I play footy to win Premierships and that’s certainly what we are striving to do.”
Adelaide selected Marinoff, a Morphettville Park product, with its first pick at the 2016 AFLW Draft and the on-baller has taken her game to new heights every season.
Marinoff has averaged 24.9 disposals, 10.4 contested possessions, 7.5 tackles and 4.1 marks in 2022 across eight games.
She said playing her 50th game in front of a home crowd would make the day even more special.
But getting the win against Collingwood would be the icing on top.
“I am very grateful that my 50th will be at home and I’ll be able to have so many friends and family be able to come watch,” Marinoff said.
“The girls and the Club have certainly gotten around me but I am here to do a job and that's to help get this team into finals and we really want to cement a top two spot.
“Our depth is probably the best it’s ever been.
“To come home (from WA) with the four points was a really good result.
“To see ourselves play out the game the way we wanted to leading into a big clash against the Pies this week is really pleasing.”
Adelaide will celebrate Indigenous culture against Collingwood in Round Nine in front of fans at Norwood Oval on Sunday, March 6, with the first bounce at 2.40pm.
The match, which is proudly sponsored by BHP, will include activities for families, as well as a special pre-match performance by Kuma Karru.
