Adelaide co-captain Erin Phillips has been recognised by her peers as the league’s Most Valuable Player at this year’s AFLPA Awards, just hours after becoming a two-time AFLW premiership captain on Sunday.
The 33-year-old has taken out the MVP award for the second time in three years after winning it in the inaugural AFLW season.
Phillips set the standard in 2017 and, after an injury-interrupted season in 2018, returned to her elite form this season, averaging a career-best 21.4 disposals, 5.2 clearances and 3.2 tackles a game.

She also slotted 11 goals to go with her 37 inside 50s.
The AFLW community has rallied behind the star Crow after she suffered a suspected anterior cruciate ligament injury in the third quarter of Adelaide’s Grand Final victory.
As she was stretchered off the field, fans were on their feet to show their respect with a standing ovation.

Her co-captain Chelsea Randall was also recognised at Tuesday’s awards, taking out the Most Courageous Player title for the third-consecutive year.
Yet again, Randall was the backbone of Adelaide’s defensive unit, averaging 15.4 disposals at 69.4 per cent efficiency and 3.4 marks.
