Adelaide’s latest draftee Jake Soligo has had a hectic few days.
But Soligo, a Victorian who Adelaide selected with pick No.36 at the AFL National Draft on Thursday, said one Crow had made the transition to West Lakes that little bit easier.
“I am living with Reilly O'Brien,” Soligo said.
“He’s a really hard worker… I can’t wait to learn from him and have him push me along the way.
There was no time wasted for Soligo and four other Crows newcomers, as the draftees took part in running drills and gym work on day one at West Lakes.
For Soligo, that was the perfect way to meet his new teammates and fasttrack his development.
“(The) first session was really good, all the boys were really welcoming and it was good to be out there,” Soligo said.
“I’m a hard-working mid, really clean with my hands and overall can go down and kick a few snags.
“I am just going to work hard and earn respect from all the boys.”
Josh Rachele, who was chosen with pick No.6 at the National Draft, also spoke to the media post-training and enjoyed being put through his paces on day one.
“I only expected to do a little bit but we ended up doing about 6-7km,” Rachele said.
“it was very exciting to meet all the boys and know that now the hard work begins.
“The speed is a lot quicker, the bodies are bigger so it’s just about trying to adapt as quick as possible… going forward it’s just earning the respect of my teammates and having fun.”
