A whopping seven Crows topped the Fantasy ton in Adelaide’s 27-point win over Collingwood at Etihad Stadium.
The result helped Adelaide become the most prolific Fantasy Club in the competition so far this season with an average of 1762 points through the opening two rounds.
Adelaide’s two best Fantasy performers of last year led the charge against the Magpies as Sam Jacobs (119) and Rory Sloane (117) dominated in the midfield.
‘Sauce’ chalked up 32 hit-outs and 24 disposals for the match – the most since Round Five of 2014. Last year’s premier Fantasy ruckman, Jacobs notched 15 triple-figure scores last season and is a must-have following Saturday’s performance against the Pies.
Sloane is another no-brainer after notching his second Fantasy century for the year.
The 2013 Club Champion won 30 possessions, nine clearances and eight marks to see his value tick over the $600k mark for the first time. Sloane is Adelaide’s most consistent Fantasy performer, but is also the most expensive Crow in the game.
But it’s likely his value will continue to rise this weekend if he can reach an achievable breakeven of 96 points.
Matthew Jaensch was the fourth-highest scoring Fantasy defender of the round with 115 points from 26 disposals and a game-high 13 marks.
Fellow backman Brodie Smith wasn’t too far behind with 111 points in a 29-possession best-on-ground performance. It was Smith’s best score since Round 17 of last season against the Hawks.
He’s already added $20,000 to his starting price, but remains a good buy at just $485,000 given the promise of more midfield time as the season rolls on.
Proven guns Patrick Dangerfield (114) and Richard Douglas (112) were also prolific in Saturday’s twilight victory at Etihad Stadium, while Taylor Walker’s (110) second ton of the season has him ranked fourth in the AFL for average points after two rounds.
Big scores also flowed further down the order, with bargain Crows Rory Laird (96), Nathan van Berlo (95) and Cam Ellis-Yolmen (95) all notching significant totals.
Even key defenders Kyle Hartigan and Daniel Talia – who understandably are not regular high-scorers in the Fantasy world - were amongst the action.
Hartigan’s score of 88 was a career-best for the emerging backman, as he mopped up nicely in defence with 21 possessions, eight marks and two tackles.
All Australian full-back Talia posted his best score since Round 18 last season with 82 points from a career-high 24 possessions in an outstanding job on Magpies forward Travis Cloke.
