DARREN JARMAN FROM HAWTHORN FOR PICK NO.25 (DANIEL CHICK) - 1995
Jarman, the younger brother of inaugural Crow Andrew Jarman, was 29 when he was traded to Adelaide.
He had already played 109 games for the Hawks, including their flag in 1991, twice earned All Australian selection and won the club’s best and fairest in 1995, the same season he finished runner-up in the Brownlow Medal.
A complicated trade deal brought him back to Adelaide to reunite with Andrew and it proved a recruiting coup.
He was an All Australian in his first year with the Crows and then twice a grand final matchwinner for Adelaide.
Jarman booted five goals in the last quarter of the 1997 grand final (for a total of six) after being moved to full forward and then kicked five goals in the 1998 win over North Melbourne.
He retired at the end of the 2001 season after 121 games for the Crows and 264 goals.
Chick played 149 games for Hawthorn before being traded to West Coast where he featured in 103 matches, including the 2006 grand final win.
MATTHEW ROBRAN FROM HAWTHORN FOR PICK NO.11 (JONATHON ROBRAN) - 1992
At the end of 1992, Robran, the older son of SA football great Barrie Robran, secured a long-awaited trade to Adelaide.
In a twist of fate, Robran was traded to the Crows in exchange for pick No.11 at the 1992 AFL National Draft, which the Hawks used to select his younger brother Jonathon.
Despite suffering an injury-interrupted first few years at West Lakes, Robran cemented his position at centre half-forward for the Crows.
In 1996, he finished fourth in the Club Champion and was recognised with the Best Team Man award.
Robran then went on to play a key role in Adelaide’s 1997 and 1998 premierships, highlighted by a career-best six-goal haul in the ’98 Preliminary Final win over the Western Bulldogs.
His younger brother lined up in 75 games for the Hawks before he was traded to Essendon in 1999.
Jonathon featured in eight matches for the Bombers before being delisted at the end of 2001 and he went back to play with Norwood in the SANFL until 2004.
