On-baller Jay Boyle has been named Adelaide’s best development player in 2021, winning the Dean Bailey Award.

The 23-year-old has played 16 SANFL games this season - the most of Adelaide’s development players - and has averaged 12.9 disposals, 2.9 clearances, and booted six goals.

He starred during the Round 18 clash against Central District at Elizabeth Oval in which he relished in the midfield, amassing 25 possessions, six clearances and seven inside-50s.

Boyle was recruited from Adelaide Footy League Club Brighton Bombers, but also lined up in five League games for Glenelg in 2017.

The Dean Bailey Award assesses on-field performance, dedication to training and overall commitment to the team in honour of the late Strategy and Innovations coach’s passion for nurturing young footballers.

The award returned in 2021 after the Crows did not take part in the 2020 SANFL season due to Covid-19.

Reliable defender Matt Merrett took home the award in 2019.
