2 – Adelaide has been involved in the AFL season-opener twice previously, for one win and one loss. The Club’s first-ever game (and victory) against Hawthorn in 1991 was played on the Friday night of Round One. The Crows also kicked off the 1995 AFL Premiership Season, going down to North Melbourne by three points at the MCG. Carlton and Richmond owned season-openers between 2008 and 2011. Last year, Sydney and Greater Western Sydney faced off in the inaugural Sydney derby in the first game.

7 – Current Crows players made Round One AFL debuts: Graham Johncock (2002), Bernie Vince (2006), David Mackay (2008), Taylor Walker and Jared Petrenko (2009), Sam Jacobs (for Carlton in 2009) and Brodie Smith (2011).
