The Adelaide Football Club has listened and responded to community feedback regarding the master plan for its proposed Thebarton Oval redevelopment.
At a meeting of the Master Plan Advisory Group (MAG) on Monday night, the Club provided information and insights to the group and additionally received a presentation from one of the MAG’s community representatives.
Key components of the Club’s presentation included moving the second oval east on Kings Reserve to create more open space and preserve more of the existing tree canopy, creating more on-site free permanent car parking, and reducing the leased footprint on Kings Reserve.
“We welcome as much feedback as possible to help shape our master plan, which is why we have also launched a survey on our website yesterday to enable us to gather information on issues that are important to the community,” Crows CEO Tim Silvers said.
“As part of our presentation on Monday night, we responded to the masterplan design objectives of the MAG.”
The revised master plan now includes moving the second oval 30m east on Kings Reserve and reducing the total leased area.
“This will provide approximately 5500 additional square metres of community space to the western side of Kings Reserve, saving significant existing tree canopy,” Silvers said.
“Through the feedback process, the Adelaide Football Club has also moved the western boundary of the leased area to follow the shape of the second oval, which will see community space remain with the council.
“We are also increasing the existing free public car parking on site, which will be in addition to a further 500 temporary spots available on game day, reducing the impact on local streets.
“In addition, we are committed to having primary access to and from the precinct via South Road without impeding on existing local roads including Meyer Street."
