The ninth edition of Adelaide’s AFLW Club Champion will be hosted on Friday night (December 6). 

An opportunity to celebrate the season, the Club will crown its 2024 Best and Fairest, along with a host of other awards. 

Ahead of the night of nights, AFC Media has put together a guide of everything you need to know. 

Start time

The Club Champion event will officially begin at 7pm. 

Adelaide’s players will begin arriving from 6.30pm, when coverage of the red carpet will begin on the Club’s social platforms. 

The count will not be livestreamed.

Voting process

Adelaide’s Club Champion is determined by the coaching staff rating each player from 1-8 after every game, including the finals. 

Co-Captain Ebony Marinoff is the reigning Best and Fairest winner after a stellar 2023 campaign. She polled 369 votes, edging out Anne Hatchard (341) and Niamh Kelly (318) in a thrilling count. 

Past winners

Adelaide has held eight AFLW Best and Fairest counts in its history, with four players claiming the Club’s highest individual honour. 

Anne Hatchard is the only three-time winner, having taken home the award in 2020, 2022 (Season Six) and 2022 (Season Seven). 

Ebony Marinoff and Erin Phillips have claimed the top gong on two occasions, with the former winning in 2021 and 2023 and latter in 2017 and 2019. 

Former skipper Chelsea Randall rounds out the winners, triumphing in 2018.

Other awards

A number of other awards will be presented on the night. 

They include: 

Leading Goal Kicker - presented to the player that kicked the most goals throughout the season (finals included). 

Lynn Drew Medal (Members’ MVP) - named in honour of the late Lynn Drew, a foundation AFLW member and longtime Club member, the medal will be awarded to the player voted by the members as the Most Valuable Player for the season. 

Best Defensive Player - is determined by the coaching staff and recognises Adelaide’s best defensive player throughout the season. 

Players’ Player - goes to the highest polling player from team votes throughout the season. After every game, each player issues a 3,2,1 to highlight which teammate best demonstrated the team’s values.
