In a quirk of the AFL fixture, the Crows and Eagles will do battle twice in the last nine rounds of the season. Adelaide will venture to Patersons Stadium for the return leg in Round 23.

The Eagles, who boast star ruckmen Dean Cox and Nic Naitanui, have the No.1 hit-out differential in the competition. They are also second in the League at winning first possession, with Matt Priddis ranked No.2 in this statistic.

Saturday night’s clash is a crucial game for both teams, who are only separated by percentage on the AFL ladder in 10^th (West Coast) and 11^th (Adelaide) place, respectively.

On Saturday, Brad Crouch (31 disposals) became the youngest Adelaide player since Mark Ricciuto in 1994 to collect 30-plus possessions in a game.

Of West Coast’s six wins this season, four have been interstate; Brisbane at the Gabba, GWS at Skoda Stadium, Melbourne at the MCG and St Kilda at Etihad Stadium.

ANDREW Embley is no guarantee to come straight back into the West Coast line-up following a one-match suspension, according to coach John Worsfold. Embley missed last week's loss to Essendon after copping a ban for kneeing Hawthorn's Ben Stratton a fortnight ago, but Worsfold admitted the 2006 Norm Smith medallist was not guaranteed selection despite the importance of Saturday's clash with Adelaide.

Shuey to miss Crows clash
Outstanding young midfielder Luke Shuey will miss at least another week with a hamstring strain, so will not make the trip to AAMI Stadium for the crucial clash with Adelaide on Saturday night. However, Josh Hill (hamstring) is a chance to return.

FOR NOW, West Coast players will give John Worsfold some space as the premiership coach ponders whether to stay on for another season or call it quits. But if Worsfold is still undecided about his future by the end of the season, Eagles vice-captain Beau Waters hopes player power will convince the club great to remain at the helm.
