Lleyton Hewitt’s brave run through the qualifying rounds of the singles tennis ended in London last night.

But the No 1 Crows ticketholder still managed to take a set off world No.2 Novak Djokovic on Wimbledon’s centre court. The Serb beat Hewitt 4-6, 7-5, 6-1.

Later Hewitt teamed with Samantha Stosur to upset mixed doubles fourth seeds Agnieszka Radwanska and Marcin Matkowski (Poland) in the first round 6-3, 6-3.

Australian super heavyweight contender Johan Linde’s campaign ended this morning. The referee stopped his round of 16 bout against Zhilei Zhang just 46 seconds into the second round. Linde, whose trainer Colin Betty passed away suddenly last week, was behind 7-2 on points when the fight was stopped.
