Gritty midfielder Rory Sloane was one of four Crows to receive coaches’ votes in Adelaide’s 22-point loss to Fremantle at Patersons Stadium on Saturday night.
Sloane amassed a game-high 30 disposals, seven marks, seven clearances and seven tackles against the Dockers to poll eight votes from Brenton Sanderson and Ross Lyon. Young Crow Brad Crouch continued his excellent form, collecting 28 possessions, five marks, five tackles, four clearances and two votes from the coaches. Forward Tom Lynch, who kicked 2.3 from 20 touches and eight marks, and goalkicking onballer Bernie Vince (25 possessions, six marks, six tackles and 1.1) each received one vote.
Star Docker Nat Fyfe earned a perfect 10 for his influential display, which included 29 possessions and 4.2. Livewire duo Stephen Hill (six) and Lachie Neale (two) were the other players to capture the attention of the coaches.
Gold Coast captain Gary Ablett (85 votes) remains at the top of the AFL Coaches Association Champion Player of the Year award, but Sydney co-captain Kieren Jack has closed to within five votes of the Brownlow Medal favourite after a best-on-ground performance against Richmond.
Adelaide match winner Patrick Dangerfield, who has missed the past two games with a sprained AC joint, is in equal-seventh spot on 57 votes.
