Under the guidance of Dan Jackson, Adelaide’s players have formed an official book club at West Lakes.

In the midst of isolation, Jackson - who joined the Crows ahead of 2020 as Leadership Development Manager - floated the idea of the book club.

“We were trying to fill time while we were isolated,” Jackson told The Optus Crows Show.

“A number of guys I met with or chatted with had a lot of interests outside of football and there had been a few asking if I could recommend a good book.

“Someone was saying they wanted to read The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F***.

“We put it out to the whole group and said players, coaches, staff… anyone who wants to read it, in a couple of weeks we're going to catch up for coffee and just chat about what we’ve learnt.”

Well into 2021, the book club has continued, albeit without the emphasis on books.

“Everyone takes things in differently… I love to read, but we try to diversify that,” Jackson said.

“(Now) we share podcasts, videos, documentaries… to appeal to all different learners.

“You nearly get more value out of the conversation after than you do listening/reading yourself, because you take other people’s views.

“That’s what I find interesting, saying hey have a listen to this podcast and let’s have a chat about what we learned.”

Also on The Optus Crows Show this week, Brodie Smith sits down with Lachlan Sholl, Sam Jacobs chats to Crows champion Courtney Cramey and Taylor Walker talks through his ACL comeback in 2013.
