Adelaide has now lost two consecutive games against GWS for the first time ever after falling short by less than three goals in both match-ups in 2018.

The crowd of 13,249 at UNSW Canberra Oval was the largest away crowd the Crows have faced when playing the Giants.

Round 10 against Melbourne was the last time Adelaide (8.7) kicked more goals than points.

Matt Crouch and GWS’ Lachie Whitfield had a game-high 30 disposals. Crouch had 13 contested possessions and 16 uncontested.

It was back to business for Brodie Smith in his second game of 2018 as the defender collected 29 disposals with 14 contested and 17 uncontested possessions.

Smith had 12 groundball gets including an equal round-high six in the defensive 50.

Smith and Alex Keath combined for 11 groundball gets in the defensive 50.

Keath also had eight spoils with six of them effective.

The 29 disposals were his highest since Round 15, 2017 while the 14 contested possessions were a career-best.

Forward Josh Jenkins joined Darren Jarman and Brett Burton on 264 goals for the club after kicking three majors for the second week in a row.

The trio sit equal seventh on the all-time leader board, five goals behind Eddie Betts.

Rory Sloane had double the clearances of any other player on the ground with 12, while Rory Laird had 16 kicks of which 15 were effective.

Tom Lynch had 10 marks including four in the forward 50 and ruckman Sam Jacobs recorded a round-high 55 hitouts and 15 hitouts to advantage.

Both sides ranked at the lower end of team statistics with the Crows recording the fewest disposals (340). GWS ranked 14^th with 346.

They were also in the bottom four for marks (Adelaide, 79; GWS, 81), and uncontested possessions (both 196; equal with Carlton) and rebound 50s (Adelaide, 34; GWS, 37).

The Crows had just 37 disposals in the forward 50 to GWS’ 60.

On average, the Crows kicked a goal every fourth inside 50.

GWS claimed 20 intercept marks, third highest for Round 21. Adelaide ranked ninth with 15.
