Adelaide skipper Rory Sloane has spoken out about his experience filming no-holds-barred Amazon Prime documentary Making Their Mark.
The midfielder revealed the truth behind that Brad Crouch moment and why he chose to open up for the fans.
One moment in the documentary shows Senior Coach Matthew Nicks speaking to the midfield group after the Crows’ 75-point loss to Port Adelaide last year.
But Sloane said a seemingly tense exchange between Nicks and former Crow Brad Crouch was not what it appeared to be.
“Some people took that as a go at him, but if you go back - and I remember that meeting very, very vividly - Nicksy’s (Matthew Nicks’) comment was very much directed at our whole midfield group,” he told Triple M’s Roo & Ditts.
“At that point in time, we weren’t performing at the level at all that we needed to.
“That was a good ol’ rocket that one - it wasn’t just directed at Brad.”
But Adelaide fans watching Making Their Mark can expect more than just footy.
Sloane and his wife Belinda, who welcomed their newest addition - Bodhi Leo Sloane - earlier this year, spoke candidly about the loss of their first-born Leo.
“That’s what this was all about - opening up and sharing what goes on in everyday life,” Sloane said.
“Leo’s been a massive part of our lives.
“For us, going through that whole period, having people reaching out to us and hearing their stories and knowing they’re okay eventually… we feel that we should share our story for anyone else out there that needs to hear some hope.
“I hope that has a big impact on a couple of people who have been through similar things.”
Sloane said while filming was, at times, tough, he was excited to give Crows supporters the opportunity to see the Club through a new lens.
“It’s going to be really insightful for our fans, they’re going to love what they see,” he said.
Making Their Mark is streaming now on Amazon Prime Video.
