1. Bucky
When he was young, Newchurch had big, buck teeth which earned him the nickname ‘Bucky’ and it has stuck.
2. One year in Adelaide
Newchurch spent most of his life living in Port Augusta, where he was often at the beach and always played footy after school. He only moved to Adelaide earlier this year.
3. Henley High
The move to Adelaide was to complete Year 12, which he did at Henley High. Before that, he studied at Flinders View Primary and Port Augusta Secondary.
4. Senior debut at 15
Playing at West Augusta, Newchurch made his senior debut at 15 year of age. While it was nerve-racking to play that young, Newchurch loved it and got to play against a lot of his cousins and his brother-in-law.
5. Family support
His mum and dad have been the biggest influences in his career. When his mum moved down to Adelaide with him this year, his new city life was made a lot easier. He’s also been supported by his three sisters, even though they aren’t big on footy.
6. Loves Charlie
An Adelaide supporter his whole life, Newchurch’s favourite player to watch and try to emulate is former Crow Charlie Cameron. He also really likes watching Matt Crouch.

Newchurch was the Adelaide Crows Foundation 2019 Scholarship recipient. With the money he got with the scholarship, he bought a laptop and glasses for school and also paid for some driving lessons so he could get around Adelaide.
8. Indigenous mentor
If he wasn’t playing footy, Newchurch would want to be an Indigenous mentor for younger kids within footy to help them graduate from SANFL to AFL and that’s something he still hopes to do.
9. Junior is his idol
Just like Jackson Hately, Newchurch is really excited to play alongside Wayne Milera.
10. Golfing against Seedo
Newchurch likes golf and enjoys practicing at both ranges and golfing simulators. His new teammate Seedsman has said he’d like to have a hit with Newchurch at some point.
