James has a younger sister, Izzy, 16 and an older sister, Ella, who is 20.

Borlase was born in Egypt while his dad worked as a commodity trader abroad.
3. Melbourne to Adelaide
The Borlase family moved to Melbourne several months after James was born and relocated to Adelaide around four years later.
4. A flag at school
Borlase won a flag in the State knockout competition, defeating Henley Beach with PAC.
5. Old teammates
James played alongside new Crows teammate Luke Pedlar in PAC's first 18 football side.
6. Sporting royalty
Borlase's mother, Jenny, played 70 games for Australia in international netball.
7. Over in Alberton
Borlase's father, Darryl, played 246 games for Port Adelaide in the SANFL and won four premierships.
8. Family support
Although he will be lining up for the cross-town rival, Borlase's parents were elated their son could continue to chase his dream.
9. Surfs up
Away from footy, James loves to surf, most recently with a few mates at Goolwa.
10. Double blue
Borlase made his SANFL debut with Sturt in the back-half of 2020, registering 14 touches, six marks, five rebound 50s and a crucial late goal-saving tackle./
