Sam Berry arrived at the Crows via Pick 28 in the 2020 AFL Draft.
1. Tackling monster
Berry loves a tackle, and none more so than against Geelong Falcons in the NAB League last season. He racked up 18 tackles in just one match.
2. Younger brother
Sam grew up in country Victoria as a younger brother to 19-year-old sister Leyla.
3. Bomber boy
Berry was an Essendon fan growing up, but admitted his favourite player was Bulldogs midfielder and fellow Gippsland native Josh Dunkley.
4. Boarding with Crouchy
The 18-year-old arrived in Adelaide on Friday (December 11) and will shack up with Club Champion midfielder Matt Crouch for the short term.
5. A past interaction with Gibba
At the young age of 11, Berry was lucky enough to meet former Crow Bryce Gibbs and (at the time) Carlton teammate Marc Murphy.
6. An eye on Sloane
Fresh at West Lakes, Berry says he wants to include elements of Rory Sloane's game to his own.
7. Gippsland through and through
Berry was born and raised in Maffra in Gippsland, Victoria. He pulled on the Gippsland Power guernsey proudly ahead of joining the Crows.
8. Swing of golf
Outside of football, Sam loves a swing of the golf clubs. Hasn’t grabbed a handicap just yet, but loves a drive off the tee.
9. By the numbers
Growing up, Berry spent time wearing the No. 10 guernsey, but also adopted 7 and 12 through his junior career. His Crows number is yet to be assigned.
10. Workhorse
Berry can run and run and run, proving his elite levels of endurance with a 21.7 in the Yo Yo test and finishing fifth in the 2km trial at the AFL Victoria Country combine.
