Forwards Tom Lynch and Josh Jenkins will both undergo post-season surgery.
Lynch will have a minor procedure on his knee, while Jenkins will go under the knife to remedy a nagging ankle injury.
Crows General Manager of High Performance Brett Burton said the surgeries were unlikely to significantly affect the pair’s pre-season.
“Tom is going in for a little knee clean-up. He’ll be (training) off-legs for a little while, and we imagine that will be a 4-6 week recovery period. He’ll have a relatively normal pre-season,” Burton said.
“Josh’s had a bit of an issue with his ankle. He’ll have a clean-out of that as well and, again, we’re hopeful that he’ll have a normal pre-season program.”
Defenders Daniel Talia and Jake Lever both sustained injuries in Adelaide’s Semi-Final loss to Sydney.
All Australian Talia played out the game despite suffering an adductor strain in the first quarter.
“‘Tals has got a grade 2-3 adductor strain, so if we were still playing he’d probably miss a couple of weeks,” Burton said.
“Given it’s the offseason, he’ll rest that over the next few weeks and be fine to join in with the normal offseason program.”
Lever injured his ankle going back with the flight of the ball in the second quarter at the SCG.
The courageous 20-year-old attempted to return to the field, but the injury was too severe.
“Jake’s actually done a pretty good job of that ankle,” Burton said.
“He’ll be in a moon boot for the next four weeks and probably off running for the next six or so weeks. It’s quite a serious injury, but he’ll be able to have a normal pre-season which is the positive.”
Fellow defenders Luke Brown and Kyle Cheney, who have been battling groin soreness, require a period of rest over the offseason.
“They’ve been managing that soreness for a little while now,” Burton said.
“Both of those guys will have a period of (training) unloading and then we’ll build them back up again. They’ll more than likely have a modified program before Christmas and then be in full training after Christmas.”
The Club reported no new injuries in its SANFL Preliminary Final loss to Sturt.
Midfielder Cam Ellis-Yolmen is progressing well in his recovery from a minor hamstring strain and will be fit for the start of pre-season training. The Crows will continue to take a cautious approach to defender Sam Shaw’s recovery from concussion-related symptoms.
Adelaide’s 1-4-year players will start pre-season training on Monday, November 21. The remainder of the group returns a fortnight later on Monday, December 5.
